Skilled Migrant Residence Policy – Deadline looming

Skilled Migrant Residence Policy – Deadline looming

The Skilled Migrant residence policy is changing from 22 August 2017. The most significant change will be the introduction of a minimum income threshold of $48,859 per annum ($23.49 per hour) in order to be eligible for skilled employment points. With skilled employment forming the basis for eligibility under the scheme for nearly all applicants, this change will have a significant impact for those looking to apply for residence.

In light of the transition to the new policy, Immigration New Zealand has advised that the last Expression of Interest (EOI) selection under existing policy will occur on 19 July. Following this, no further EOI’s will be drawn for assessment until the new policy has been implemented on 22 August.

If you are therefore looking to submit an EOI before the policy changes, we suggest you contact one of our Immigration team for advice.
