I have served all of my law career at Saunders & Co, joining the firm in 1980 and becoming a partner in 1985. During this time I have enjoyed being part of the firm’s steady growth and working with a great team of people.

Law is somewhat of a family tradition, my father served as a Christchurch lawyer and later as a District Court Judge. Before I decided to study and practise law, I had a brief career as a mathematics teacher in Auckland.

I enjoy the general nature of my work which is mainly with private clients dealing with property transactions, family trusts, general administration, wills and estates, along with providing legal advice. I like to meet clients in person at the start of the process in order to develop a good understanding of their needs and take great satisfaction in achieving their desired results.

I am based at our Ferrymead office where I started as a legal executive in February 2016

I have a PhD in Law from the University of Otago, along with a Masters of Law and Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) from the National University of Malaysia.  My goal is to complete study in order to cross-credit my Malaysian qualifications and be admitted to the New Zealand Bar.

I am fluent in the Malay and Tamil languages and able to communicate with people from a number of countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, Southern India, Southern Thailand, Brunei, and Sri Lanka. My cultural background and language skills are useful in immigration law and any other areas that involve migrants and their settlement process in New Zealand, such as property conveyancing, estates administration, wills, trusts, setting up businesses and companies and other commercial matters.

I am a commercial and property specialist who joined Saunders & Co in 2016 after gaining extensive experience at a major Christchurch firm.  I was made a partner of the firm in 2018.

“In 2016 I decided to build a house in partnership with a friend and it was recommended to us that we use Meg Gregson to sort out the legal details.

I am an experienced Senior Registered Legal Executive who joined Saunders & Co in 2015.  I am also a fellow member of the New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives.

I work alongside Toby Giles on a wide range of property and commercial matters, from conveyancing, first home purchases, refinancing, asset protection, wills, trusts and (enduring) powers of attorney to restructuring and retirement village occupation rights agreements.

I joined Saunders & Co in 2012 soon after my arrival from the UK and became a partner in 2017. I enjoy leading the Ferrymead office with its broad, general practice and family-focused culture. I was made an Associate of Saunders & Co in August 2018 and work with Partner, David Lang, on commercial and property matters.

I was admitted to the bar in 2008 and worked in law for approximately 4 years before taking up a position managing Rowing New Zealand’s high performance development centre in Christchurch. My background in law has been helpful at Rowing New Zealand when it came to contracting athletes and dealing with sponsorship contracts. Conversely, the experience I gained during my time away from law enhanced my people management skills, and ability to handle stressful or challenging situations.

At Saunders & Co I enjoy the wide variety of work I undertake alongside David Lang. The type of work covered ranges from helping first-home buyers with their Homestart grants to dealing with commercial clients working on multi-million dollar projects.

Working in general practice with smaller firms in Wellington has provided me with experience and expertise in a wide range of legal disciplines for private clients, such as family law including relationship property and property law with a special interest in trusts and estates.

I take an avid interest in my clients and tailor my approach to their needs. I am known for being pragmatic and direct, asking the right questions to get to the heart of a matter as quickly as possible. This is especially pertinent when dealing with family relationship matters, trusts or enduring powers of attorney. My aim is for an effective and expedient resolution for my clients.

Relationship property is a particular area of interest for me.  I assist with contracting-out agreements (pre-nuptial agreements) when clients wish to record their understanding about how property will be dealt with if they separate or die. These agreements are becoming increasingly prevalent as a form of relationship “insurance”, ensuring that both parties have an enforceable plan should they separate or one of them dies.  I also help clients to negotiate agreements and settlements when couples are separating and am highly experienced when it comes to property sale and purchase transactions.
