Cran is a well-respected senior commercial lawyer with over thirty years experience. He has a wide range of business and sporting contacts, many as a result of his time as a member of the NZ Cricket Council. During Cran's playing days he represented Canterbury at first class level for an 18 year period, including 4 years as captain. He is currently chairman and legal counsel for the Canterbury Cricket Association.
Cran has extensive experience in dealing with a wide range of both niche and major organisations, including assisting Te Runanga O Ngai Tahu with its development and structuring.
